I am getting so tired of school. I think that these teachers are so robotic and do not tend to think for themselves they always strictly follow the rule/ hand book and it is gettig very old and frustrating. Instead of having a heart they dont take into consideration that we students do have a life outside of school and things happen that at times can prevent us from getting things done. I do agree that some people do have excuses all the time but in general i just think that the teachers should show some heart and think about us sometimes instead of what their boss might say. They wont get fired so why not show somme compassion. Once we are in their classroom its their rules not the schools.

Your point is valid and instructors do have some flexiblity that goes beyond what their administrators / bosses can do or say. But remember your perspective is from that of a high school student. On on merely biological spectrum a human being is essentially narcisistic at this age- it's biological, not a moral or value judgment. It is hoped that an instructor would have a broader life view. How this affects the students is that there is a keen awareness of what's coming around the corner and this involves a highly competetive society, not simply the folks at this school, but the larger picture of people who have had easier social and economic opportunities. Our students are as intelligent as the next, but by holding our kids to a lesser standard we are doing them no favors. Your peers are taking five AP classes, doing volunteer work and have straight A's; as well they do sports or music. They expect 4 hours of homework a night. I'm not saying that everyone should have that, but every individual must decide what they want in life. An instructor must provide the opportunites for those at competetive levels. Balancing one's private and school / work life will always be difficult. Short term efforts, as in a few years of hard academics, will pay off for a much more comfortable life.
